"Hello, I'm Drishya! I have a degree in mechanical engineering with a mathematics minor from The University of Texas at San Antonio. I also have a 3-year research Master's degree in mechanical engineering (computational/applied mechanics) and currently work full-time as a mechanical engineer.
During college, I worked as a mathematics tutor for 3 years - I provided one-on-one and group tutoring to college students with varying levels of math knowledge (Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus, Diff Equations). Additionally, I tutored high school students with their math, and science coursework and SATs!
I realized that the classes I enjoyed most in college were with teachers who knew the material very well, and were encouraging, enthusiastic, and engaged. I try to bring forth the same spirit and do everything I can to make sure the learning experience is pleasant.
My approach to tutoring is first identifying problem areas, preparing lesson plans to cover the essential concepts, and then deep-diving into solving problems on the topic. I like to ask probing questions and help students figure out the solution themselves as the best way to learn math, science, or anything else is by actually doing it! I hope to get students engaged in learning the material - and with my engineering background, I hope to provide practical insights into using fundamental principles and problem-solving!
As a tutor, my main goal is to encourage the learning of my students. I'm open to resources and suggestions students or parents can provide. I am easily accessible via phone or email so please don't hesitate to reach out if you'd like to schedule a lesson." less...
