"Hi everyone! I am Colby, an undergraduate student at NC State University studying Mechanical Engineering. I am originally from Maine and found my way down to North Carolina. I’m passionate about sports and have been playing hockey my whole life. I went to high school at Thornton Academy, a private-public school, where I finished in the top 5% of my class and excelled in Science and Math classes. I tutored fellow high schoolers in similar classes during my Junior and Senior years. These courses have always interested me and I am eager to help others find the interest that I saw.

I have a year and a half of tutoring experience, mainly as a first come, first serve style service, specifically in Algebra I and II, Pre-Calculus, Calculus I and II, and Physics I and II. I worked from direct contact with any students who needed help, but I am always open to the idea of working with multiple students at a time. I do not look for the right answer, but I look for comprehension and independence for each and every topic. I have even helped tutor many of my friends/peers at NC State with similar courses. With my help, these students were able to further understand the material and get the final grade they had been hoping for. In my eyes, however, I believe that understanding the material and its various applications is the most important part of learning. Final grades do not show the trials and tribulations a student goes through to finally get a full grasp of the course material. My outlook in tutoring is not just to get you a grade that you want, but also to help you fluently understand every topic you have issues with, so later down the road you can recognize and apply all the processes you have learned.
