My expertise for the MCAT is in CARS, Bio/Biochem, and P/S. For CARS, each type of passage requires a different strategy to get the most out of a quick read. During tutoring, we go through each type of passage (artistic, scientific, argumentative, philosophy) and identifying how to pull out the "right" information before heading to the answer choices.
I hope to leave you with is a spreadsheet to help track your progress/scores/mistakes, tools to conquer MCAT math quickly, timing strategies to make sure you finish each section, and guidance on which resources to use and how. I also individualize tutoring heavily, meaning we will go through your exams to figure out exactly why you are getting each question wrong (content vs. passage vs. test taking skills), and I will provide you specific strategies to overcome those mistakes. A little bit about my MCAT journey, had to study for the MCAT in 3 weeks and scored 96th percentile.
For the USMLE Step 1, I hope to help you create and stick to a schedule that optimizes learning active learning (UWorld/Amboss question bank) with efficient content review (Pathoma/Sketchy) and spaced NBME practice tests. I recently took and passed STEP 1, and want to help you learn high yield principles that show up on every exam.
I hope to teach any students I tutor a consistent but efficient study schedule that works with their current strengths, but prioritizes test taking skills. I like to teach others how to efficiently study for the exam within a short period of time, so will focus my time on helping you find the right resources that will help you get your ideal score as soon as possible! Additionally, I think the biggest barrier to the MCAT is confidence, so I hope to help you believe in yourself!!" less...
