Currently a Boston University medical student, I tutor because I love teaching, mentorship, and helping others grow. I decided to start tutoring four years ago because it is an incredible way to support others in meeting personal goals, overcoming academic struggles, and developing confidence. Since then, I have tutored dozens of students from lower elementary school to undergraduates in one-on-one and small-group settings.
Graduating summa cum laude from Emory University with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology, where I supported the education of hundreds of undergraduate students as a teaching assistant for Emory University's chemistry and neuroscience courses.
I use my STEM education to support students in math (prealgebra, geometry, algebra 1 and 2, precalculus, calculus 1) and science (high school and college level biology, chemistry, biochemistry, and physics). I have also prepared students for tests like the ISEE, SSAT, SAT, ACT, and MCAT. Some of my scores include a 5/5 on the AP Calculus AB Exam, 1550 on the SAT (99th+ percentile, percent math score), and 521 on the MCAT (98th percentile).
As a tutor, I greatly value tailoring explanations and resources to each student's needs, as learning is not a one-size-fits-all experience. I pride myself on my ability to adapt my approaches to meet each student where they are. Tutoring sessions are a partnership between tutor and tutee; thus, I encourage student feedback so our sessions are as effective as possible.
I incorporate multimedia sources that build on a student's existing materials, ensuring the knowledge is easily translatable. I also teach in a systematic, step-by-step manner to help students develop a blueprint for independently overcoming difficult concepts.
Communication is crucial for a student's success, and so I strive to be very responsive to any possible questions that arise between se" less...
