"My name is Michael! I am a first-year medical student at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Biology from Saginaw Valley State University. Prior to entering medical school, I took two gap years to earn my Master's in Applied Anatomy at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio.
While there, I worked as a teaching assistant teaching graduate level anatomy and neuroscience to medical students and undergraduate students. I worked as a teaching assistant in medical school gross anatomy and neuroanatomy labs, as well as in an undergraduate neuroscience course. In addition, I organized and taught a summer neuroscience module for local Cleveland area high school students interested in medicine. Throughout all of these endeavors, I held reviews anywhere from the full-class to small group to one-on-one sessions.
I found that when I was taking the classes I would eventually end up helping teach, the lab sessions were completely dependent on the approach that my teaching assistants took in teaching us. While teaching, I found that students have many different preferences in the amount of guidance/help they are looking for and I believe that successful teaching is all about providing students the perfect amount of passive or active help that they desire!" less...
