"My name is Kathern N, and I’m a third-year medical student at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, currently completing my clinical rotations in Buffalo, NY, as part of the Primary Care Scholars Pathway. I graduated cum laude from the University of California, Irvine, with a degree in Biology and a 3.86 GPA. During high school, I excelled in AP and Honors courses, achieving a weighted GPA of 4.4 and an unweighted GPA of 3.8. My dedication to academics earned me a spot on the Dean's Honor List every semester in college, as well as a research grant for my work in the Developmental and Cell Biology lab. In medical school, I have passed all courses and board exams to date, with particular strengths in Anatomy, Nephrology, and Cardiology. I plan to go to residency for Internal Medicine.
My passion for education and mentorship has been a consistent theme throughout my life. In college, I volunteered to teach karate to children with disabilities, an experience that strengthened my patience and ability to adapt to different learning needs. As a researcher, I mentored new students in lab protocols and procedures, helping them build confidence in scientific techniques.
Additionally, I served as a learning assistant for a college-level biology course. I guided students in analyzing scientific articles and held twice-weekly office hours to support their learning. My most fulfilling tutoring experience was working as a private tutor for a student from 6th to 12th grade, where I provided daily assistance across all subjects, supported their academic projects, and helped them transition from homeschooling to traditional schooling.
I love fostering curiosity and confidence in my students, tailoring my teaching approach to meet their individual needs and learning styles. I aim to create an engaging, supportive environment that empowers students to achieve their academic aspirations and beyond." less...
