"Hi! I'm Christina, a fourth year medical student going into neurology residency. In high school, I always had a knack for science and math. My scores on the ACT and SAT opened doors for me to attend Washington & Lee university where I majored in Chemistry and minored in Classics. During college, I took the MCAT and scored in the 80-90th percentile, which helped grant me admission to medical school. Medical school has been rigorous and I have developed and honed knowledge in the sciences as well as picked up excellent study strategies. I have taken the USMLE Steps 1 and 2, passing and scoring highly respectively. I know firsthand the dichotomy of cherishing the privilege to learn while sometimes feeling frustrated at the difficult information one has to learn. As a first generation college/medical student and future physician, I am passionate about tackling barriers to these difficult topics.
Having nearly completed medical school, I have gained so much experience with indirect teaching. I have learned how to teach patients and their families about their diseases and medications - in neurology, these are often very difficult concepts to understand. While medicine is thought of lifelong learning, it is also lifelong teaching. In addition, I have volunteer tutoring experience, teaching English online to people effected by the war in Ukraine. This experience has taught me to be creative and flexible in a dynamic space with different learning styles and abilities.
If you are interested in tutoring in standardized exams, chemistry, biology, algebra, or college essays/admissions, please reach out! I look forward to working with you to reach your goals!" less...
