"Hi! My name is Antonia and I am a medical student at UCLA. I first began tutoring over 10 years ago when I was a freshmen in college. I realized I had a passion for helping others while taking chemistry, and through the advice of my chem professor, became a peer tutor. My love for learning and teaching only grew from there, and I expanded the subjects I would tutor for to include mathematics, English and Language Arts, Spanish, and Biology. As my academic career progressed, I began to tutor not only my peers, but students younger than myself as well. Through in-home tutor services, I have been able to help learners of all ages, from elementary school to high school students preparing to start their own journeys into higher education.
After curating a wealth of experience as a tutor, I became a TA through my graduate program, assisting students in learning the complexities of the human body through anatomy. This was my first experience with helping an entire cohort of students, and the longitudinal relationships I developed with each student brought me much joy. In addition to being a TA, I continued offering private 1-on-1 tutoring lessons, helping a brilliant young woman matriculate to college and volunteering my free time to a young girl who learned to find confidence in her reading and math skills.
Today, as a medical student preparing to become an Emergency Medicine physician, tutoring, teaching, and education are still near and dear to my heart. Patient education, of course, is a core responsibility of a physician. As such, I have continued to hone my teaching skills through engaging in Medical Education electives, teaching anatomy and ultrasound to new students. In my free time, I strive to continue to foster a love for learning in all students who cross my path, no matter their age, grade level, background, hopes, or dreams." less...
