"I am currently in my third year of medical school at Wayne State University School of Medicine. I graduated summa cum laude from Michigan State University in 2021 with a major in Neuroscience and a minor in Spanish. While at MSU, I also spent 4 years as a research assistant in a Clinical Psychology lab and spent my senior year as an Introduction to Neuroscience teaching assistant to 200+ college sophomores & juniors.
Although my current education is in the sciences, my proficiency in Spanish, cultivated from attending a Spanish immersion elementary school, adds an extra dimension to my teaching repertoire. I have studied Spanish for the past 20 years and am passionate about sharing the language with others. At my medical school, I have taught medical Spanish courses to my peers to facilitate our communication with Spanish speaking patients.
My teaching method is to empower students to guide the conversation, encouraging them to actively participate in their own learning journey. Rather than simply providing answers, I employ probing questions to stimulate critical thinking and foster a deeper understanding of the subject matter. I have found that my favorite teachers have been those who help me realize my own capability by simply structuring my thought processes. I believe that stimulating confidence is the upmost importance in building a solid foundation for lifelong learning. As a unique learner myself, I am adept at altering my teaching methods to accommodate the individual needs of my students. My flexibility shines in my tailored approach to cater to the distinct learning styles of college-aged students, high schoolers, and middle schoolers alike.
Some fun facts about me are that I was a Division 1 diver at Michigan State University, that I love to sing, and that I recently started learning how to mountain bike! I'd love to get to know you and support you in your academic journey." less...
