"My name is Melissa and I was formerly a high school English teacher with many years of experience in a traditional classroom setting. In addition to teaching in the high school classroom, I have also taught middle school, and tutored a wide variety of students ranging from fourth grade through masters degree level.

My children are 10, 8, and 5 and I have had the privilege to walk with them in their learning journeys, including a year of home schooling. I also worked with many other children in a local church group.

A highlight of my career was when I was awarded the Friends of Catholic Education Teacher of the Year. This award was received with great honor and I was very pleased to know that my colleagues and administrators selected me for this title.

My formal education consists of: a private-school high school diploma, a Bachelors in English from Mount St. Mary's University (2007), a Masters in Education from Mount St. Mary's University (2009), and a Certificate in Supervision and Administration from Johns Hopkins University (2013).

Through my years as an educator I have taught: AP Language and Composition, Creative Writing, Public Speaking, Journalism, Literature, Reading, Vocabulary, Writing, College Prep, SAT Prep, and Organizational Behaviors.
