"I am an Assistant Professor at the Department of Biochemistry at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (New York). There, I direct a lab focused on proteomics science where we investigate the role of DNA and protein alterations during aging. I received my training at the University of Parma (Italy). Then, I did my PhD at the University of Southern Denmark (Odense, DK) and my postdoc at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia (USA). I have been teaching PhD courses since I was a PhD student myself, approx. 13 years of experience. First, I started with courses focused on bioinformatics and biochemistry. However, more recently, I have taught in career development courses such as negotiating job offers, PhD manuscripts/thesis writing, and where and when to look for the next opportunity.

My personal approach to tutoring is to discuss beforehand via email about needs and expectations. Then, I provide information about what I can provide, and only then the student agrees or declines on one-on-one virtual meetings. Normally, one session is sufficient to discuss the general directions and provide electronic material on what might be needed for the student to succeed. However, I also perform offline proofreading of CVs, manuscripts, and a potential PhD thesis.
