"Hello,
I am a licensed teacher in the Philippines. For eleven years, I worked as the music program coordinator and adviser at the Philippine High School for the Arts, a government-run secondary school for the gifted and talented. While there, I planned, programmed, and implemented music activities, courses and individual lessons of the music students and prepared the budget for the academic year. I assumed full responsibility of all administrative and teaching duties of the music department for one academic year, assisted students with questions before and after school, met with parents, counselors, and administrators to discuss the progress of the students every quarter. I attended all meetings, trainings, and school events, collaborating pianist of the students during lessons, master classes, competitions, and performances, acted as surrogate parent, and served as facilitator of music workshops to public secondary school teachers in the Philippines.
Moreover, I taught music courses (Choir Leadership, Chorus, and Voice) at the Baptist Bible Seminary and Institute (Rizal, Philippines), and Orff Schulwerk to kids ages four to six years at the College of Music Extension Program of the University of the Philippines.
Among others, I worked as (a) collaborating pianist to government choirs in the Philippines, such as the Department of Tourism, The Central Bank of the Philippines, and The Makati Medical Center, and (b) volunteer church pianist at Manila Baptist Church.
During my undergraduate and graduate degrees, I minored in Classical Voice (soprano). At the moment, I am finishing my dissertation with a degree of Doctor of Musical Arts in Collaborative Piano at the University of Memphis.
As a mentor, I have always believed that every student has a talent. In further developing this to its maximum potential, I encourage and motivate him/her to work hard, instill discipline, and make sure that learning is fun, i.e., likened to play in young children. I make sure that trust is developed between a student" less...
