"As a recent graduate from Michigan State University, I am eager and passionate to influence the upcoming generation of scientists. My degree focused on organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and biochemistry, allowing me to understand all the facets of natural science. My educational journey, along with my professional experiences in the chemistry field, have allowed me to understand teaching, especially to students who are interested in pursuing a career in science.

Throughout my undergraduate studies, I excelled in my science and math courses. Classmates were curious how I was doing so well, and I was persuaded to start tutoring. I first began with group sessions and then private one-on-one lessons. I charged very little, but it was so rewarding to see my peers' grades improve. They were thankful and relieved. I loved the gratification of the job, and I decided to pursue it further. I continued to tutor in chemistry and biology for over a year.

After graduating with my bachelors degree, I became an Educational Specialist at the University of California, Berkeley. I took my tutoring experience to the next level, becoming an assistant teacher to professor Mark in the College of Chemistry. The summer course we were teaching was an accelerated advanced chemistry class, and it forced us to use new teaching strategies. The rigorous course schedule was set up for students to come in for office hours at least three times a week. The rest of the week, apart from daily lectures, were biweekly review sessions. This was new for me; I had never taught in front of a whole class, let alone a class with 100+ students. It gave me a whole new understanding of the profession, and although it intimidated me, it pushed me to become a more fluid educator.

All of that being said, I am excited to pave a new path using Wyzant and inspire students in high school or college wanting to pursue a career in science. I can't wait to see what amazing young minds are out there, and where this journey will take us!" less...
