"Hi, my name is Rick! My tutoring experience starts while in high school when I volunteered as a mentor and math tutor to middle school-aged students. I'd usually be found in my free time during school in the tutoring center, working with kids in need of math help. I went on to study math education at Canisius University from 2018 to 2020, then transferred to Buffalo State University where I graduated in 2023 - my certification is in mathematics grades 5-12.
Working at a youth bureau, I held after-school tutoring classes for 7th and 8th grade math, Algebra I, and Geometry R. I worked with several small groups which provided a much more personalized experience and often prompted hesitant students to open up, ask questions, and build confidence.
I've taught and tutored math to kids as young as 1st grade, and as old as high school seniors (Algebra II and Precalculus) which has allowed me to study mathematical patterns I was not privy to as a young student. Helping students to identify these patterns and approach math from a logical and commonsense approach is where I find great success.
I go above and beyond to provide students with what I believe will best help them, and I welcome any suggestions and/or resources that parents and students alike feel will help them in being successful in math. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or to schedule a session." less...
