"I currently teach at a High School as a Special Education Teacher. I am teaching CC Algebra, pre-algebra (algebra skills) and resource room.
I taught at Forest Hills High School in Queens for two years. While there I had experience teaching Common Core Algebra 1, Algebra 2/Trigonometry (non CC) and Fundamentals of Algebra (algebra skills).
I am also very familiar with the Geometry curriculum. Before working at Forest Hills, I worked at Great Neck South High School in their Study Center.
In the Study Center, I provided one on one tutoring or small group instruction to struggling students in Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2/Trigonometry. Also before Regents, I held regents review classes for common core Algebra. I also coach lacrosse at Great Neck South High School.
When it comes to tutoring outside of school, I prefer to tutor at a library in the students town because I believe if they are in their own home they have so many distractions nearby compared to being in a library where there are little distractions. However, meeting at the house is also fine as long as there is a quiet space to work. For regents or general tutoring, I start with having the student complete a regents with no help.
I then analyze their results and create lessons geared to what they need the most help on. We will repeatedly view past regent exams to familiarize with the lingo and questions that could be asked. I know mathematics can be seen as the hated topic, so I will show you creative ways to help make the material simpler. Math was not always my favorite subject and I survived, so with my help, you can too." less...
