"Hello, my name is Sayuri (she/her/hers)! I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations, with a functional track in Foreign Policy and Security and a regional track in Europe, and have been on the Dean's List from Boston University Pardee School of Global Studies. I have also successfully passed about a dozen social studies education courses at Boston University Wheelock College of Education and Human Development. I have worked for various international education organizations in Boston, New York, and Washington, DC, advocating for all children to access justice-based, student-centered education.
Throughout my professional experience in K-12 settings, I have taught from pre-school children to adult learners across all different subjects from humanities to STEM to elective courses to extracurricular activities. Today, I am in my second year teaching social studies in public secondary schools. I am particularly strong in my American history and world history knowledge. I work with many students who need more support in reading and writing, especially in English language arts and social studies contexts, and my lessons are comprehensive and engaging in content- and skill-based learning. I believe that the mastery of critical thinking, public speaking, problem solving, teamwork, and so on is so important for future college and career journeys. To get there, I open my free time to help my students when they are struggling, especially their homework and other assignments, which contribute to in-classroom learning.
I plan to help your student achieve their short- and long-term goals, therefore I welcome any resources or suggestions that you as a caregiver can provide. We will create step-by-step plans to assess our progress. Please feel free to connect with me with any questions or to schedule a lesson." less...
