"As a middle school math teacher, I enjoy providing my students with fun, engaging, challenging lessons every day. It is important that students get clear instruction from an instructor who takes their time explaining the lesson and loves the subject. Students gain confidence from practice, frequent questioning, reviewing past material and application of math problems in real world context. Tutoring allows me to work with students one-on-one which sometimes is not possible in the classroom. I strongly believe in building a strong relationship with my students and parents, my goal is to obtain student growth in their math skills by providing support and filling in gaps.
I teach 7th grade math to about 140 students and I also offer tutorials after school for about 30 minutes 3 times a week. Students who consistently attend tutorials improve their math skills tremendously. Their confidence level improves and in turn they become better test takers. We work on test taking strategies and of course use common sense because let's face it math is everywhere and we use it every day.
My background in civil engineering makes me qualified to teach prealgebra. I have been teaching math for about 9 years now.
