"I received my SB degree from MIT, double majoring in biology and neuroscience. I have three years of experience tutoring students for the MCAT, as well as high school and college level math and sciences. While I was at MIT, I was also a tutor for the Biology department, helping students excel in biology, biochemistry, and molecular biology classes. As a TA for the cell biology course, I received the highest ratings from students for my thorough knowledge of the subject and my ability to help them learn by explaining difficult concepts in ways that are easier to understand.
I like to meet my new students for a free, 30 minute consultation when we start working together to learn more about each person's individual circumstances (what courses you've taken, your study schedule, what study materials you have available, particularly challenging subjects for you, etc). This allows me to tailor my teaching to best fit your needs, and make the most of our time together.
In a typical session, we generally go through passages and questions that you had trouble with. Together, we identify whether the issue was a gap in your knowledge, difficulty interpreting the passage, or another problem. I explain any concepts that would be helpful to correctly answer the questions and make sure you feel confident about the material covered. I also help students come up with a plan for reviewing content, and share my strategies for timing during each section, experimental data analysis, and maximizing your study time. After a session, I'll send you the notes I wrote on my screen, as well as any other materials I mentioned during the call. After spending so long working with different students preparing for this exam, I'm very familiar with the best resources to use to prepare for each section, and which ones might be best to avoid. I'll give you advice on which (often free!) materials might click best for you, based on your individual learning style.
