"Engaged. Curious. Creative. Open minded. Reflective. These characteristics we want to cultivate in our children are too often neglected in traditional educational settings. As a teacher of Language & Literature at a Montessori School, I am committed to drawing out the best in all learners. I work with each student to create individualized reading, writing, and discussion-based explorations with the aim of developing knowledge, skills, and creativity that benefit students in the classroom and, more importantly, on a personal level. I am particularly interested in helping families with very active children and children with ADHD.
In addition to my teaching background, I have over 20 years' experience designing reading and writing assessments for the College Board and ETS, including the creation material for the official SAT Reading Test, AP English Literature and Composition Exam, and SHSAT (Specialized High School Admission sTest for NYC).
My current roles: As mentioned above, I currently serve as Teacher of Language & Literature at the Montessori School. As is common with the Montessori method, grades 6-8 are grouped in mixed-age classes. In addition to the Language & Literature course, I teach Civics, Grammar, Creative Writing, Study Skills, and Model United Nations. This summer (2024), I will teach the SSAT Verbal and Reading courses at the Lawrenceville Summer Scholars summer program." less...
