"I have worked for the state of NC for over 10 years, I'm currently a human resource development instructor for Southeastern Community College. I have an applied science associates degree in early childhood. I also have Administrator 2 credentials for running a child care business. I've been a substitute for Columbus County schools and Whiteville city schools. I have tutored children in the past who struggled with class work, and I worked in a position in the mental health field for a few years that required me to work in the school system with children. I am also used to working with children who may need a different approach to learning material due to a learning disability since working in the mental health field. Besides my work and school, I am a mother of two boys, I have a bonus son and custody of my sweet little nephew, so I am well aware of the type of work they are required to do in young grades now as well I love being able to work with children towards reaching their educational goals, and seeing the look they get on their face when they achieve something on their own with hard work.
I specialize in teaching reading, that is my best subject, and the one I have the most experience with tutoring, I am able to help with writing and vocabulary as well. I am also able to help with computer based programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and even Prezi, which is a complete online program.
I am well experienced in helping children with learning disabilities from working closely with them in school and at home while I was a community support specialist. I also have personal experience dealing with Asperger's Syndrome since I have a close family member that has it. I am experienced with ADHD, since my husband, step-son, and my oldest son all are diagnosed ADHD. My youngest son has sensory processing disorder, which affects his motor skills. My teaching method is figuring out what the child does know, which points are his/her strongest and using those to build a strong enough learning foundation to build" less...
