"Hello, I am a math teacher who has taught in public school for over 25 years. I received my bachelors' degree in mathematics and a masters' degree in secondary education from the same university. In those years I have learned that you never stop learning. I recently returned to college and received a masters in accounting.
While in college I tutored others who found math a bit difficult. I enjoy tutoring for two reasons. The first reason is it gives me the opportunity to use the knowledge, skills, and experience gained over the years to assist students. Also enjoy seeing the "light bulb" come on when a student gain that knowledge. I use unique tutoring styles such as songs, rhymes, and visual arts to ensure students even on the lowest level can understand. I use real world examples and make learning math fun.
I am able to identify and understand a students' learning style to supply lessons that will help a student gain the knowledge needed. I can relate to the struggles students have in math such as the fears that hinder them from learning new concepts as well as their lack of confidence. I am able to break concepts down to a level that makes it easier for any age level learn. I know that with the 3 d's dedication, determination, and desire any student can learn.
I also love to share what I call a gift with others who may or may not possess this same gift. It is because I think of my math skills as a gift that I am able to enjoy tutoring and make it enjoyable for others." less...
