"Hello, My name is Kaleb and I am an aspiring music theory and composition professor. I have completed a B.A. in music with an emphasis in composition from Illinois College, graduating summa cum laude. While there, I tutored Music Theory for the school for two years. I also completed a M.M. in music composition from Western Illinois University. While there, I volunteered to give freshman and sophomores composition lessons.

I am currently at Ball State University, studying for my D.A. in Music Theory and Composition. I am over halfway through the four-year program. While at Ball State I have been teaching Music Theory classes. I am an instructor of record, not just a graduate assistant that grades the homework and teaches an occasional lecture. I oversee the success of around 20 students each semester. I have had pedagogy courses on how to teach Music Theory and Music History. My approach to teaching music theory is to utilize the solfedge syllables. I have seen the difference it has made in my students as much confusion is created by referring to scale degrees instead of solfedge. When I made the switch, my students' part writing improved immediately.
