"Hi my name is Ethan and it's nice to meet you! I've went to Ashland University as well as Wright State University for Contemporary Business, Entrepreneurship, and Psychology. I used to work at a prison in Ohio teaching the individuals there about how to play chess, and the amount of strategy that it takes to have a successful game, depending on their approach. I would also teach them (if they had questions or were interested in learning) about some of the things that we were taught in our Contemporary Business classes.
The usual age group of people I would work with or tutor, ranged from 13 to 20 years of age. I was there for 5 years and met a lot of cunning individuals, some of which were very eager to learn, and some, unfortunately, not as much. For where I was, usually my method was incentive based. Meaning that for the people wanting to learn and play, there would be an award for the that excelled and were successful, and it worked! A lot of them, including myself, had fun playing and learning while also getting to enjoy homemade style food. I would do a lot more one on one than I would be up in the front of a classroom, that way each person felt as though they had an individualized experience, and it helped me connect with them a lot more." less...
