"I grew up in the LAX region where I attended Hawthorne High School. It was during my senior year of high school, that a good friend of mine convinced me to go to college. I applied to six schools and got accepted to three; finally I decided to attend San Diego State University (SDSU). It was through volunteering in San Diego that I found a passion for working with young adolescents. After graduating in 2010, I decided to continue my education and pursue a second degree at my dream school, UCLA, where I earned my Mater's degree in Education.
This will mark my ninth year teaching at the high school level. I have taught in the South Bay and I currently teach in Los Angeles. I have taught criminal justice, economics, government, philosophy, and sociology. So far, I have taught close to 1,000 students and recently found out two pieces of exciting news: 1) One of his former students is entering the profession of teaching and 2) He was recently invited to a wedding by a couple-both former students.
A lot of my colleagues are teachers that rely on me to revise their work. I have written letter of recommendations for several students that have received prestigious scholarships. I am an avid reader and I am constantly trying to improve my writing and grammar. As a teacher, I try to personalize an area of improvement to all of my students in order for them to improve their writing capabilities.
I have a well-rounded experience with the social science subjects. Early in my career, I thought I was going to be teaching U.S. history. However, my teaching career began with me teaching criminal justice. As a matter of fact, I still teach the subject! Nonetheless, I am passionate about history. One of the reasons I became a teacher was Mr. Anderson, he is the reason I majored in Political Science as an undergrad at SDSU.
