"I'm David. I have a Master's degree in History from San Jose State and a B.A. from Santa Clara, where I was cum laude; I am also a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Alpha Theta (History Honors Society), and Eta Sigma Phi (Classics Honors Society). I was ABD (All But Dissertation) in the Ph.D program at Penn State. I have a passion for history that I can't wait to share with you.

My last teaching experience was many years ago, in graduate school, when I taught the "second half" of US History (1865-present) as part of Penn State's Continuing Education program. I miss the interaction with students and the joy of learning. More recently, I tutored my eldest daughter through a challenging A.P. World History course in high school, and assisted my youngest in writing papers for her college courses. I believe history should not just be memorization of dates. The people of the past were not so very different from us; what they did shaped who we are. I try to convey that to my students.
