"I have a bachelor's degree in jurisprudence (pre-law) and over 14 years of experience in the mortgage industry in a variety of roles (sales, processing, underwriting, compliance, training and development).
I've been an NMLS MLO pre-licensing education instructor for more than 4 years. Part of my experience with the 20-hour PE courses was conducted through a mortgage company I worked for, and the courses were designed specifically for the newly hired employees with little to no experience in the mortgage industry with ages ranging from early 20’s through upper 30’s. My experience includes group sessions and one-on-one tutoring in a classroom setting or a virtual classroom setting.
The national pass rate for 2023 for the first attempt taking the uniform state test is 56%. In just three and a half weeks of PE, practice tests, workshop sessions, and one-on-one tutoring, my pass rate for 2023 averages 78% for the NMLS Mortgage Loan Originator SAFE test. My pass rate for the most recent 6 courses taught is 83%. In 2023 and 2024, I had 4 classes as a solo instructor with a 100% pass rate.
Throughout my 4 years assisting individuals with passing the NMLS MLO SAFE exam, I modified the course from its original, mostly lecture-style teaching method to a blended learning of lecture, coaching, and activities. I utilize acronyms and other tips and tricks to help students memorize lists and other information required to achieve successful test results.
My current instructor role is with a company providing online MLO pre-licensing education courses." less...
