"I am a Medical-Surgical Clinical Nurse Educator at an academic medical center and level 1 trauma center in Massachusetts. Before becoming an educator, I worked as a bedside nurse for 6.5 years caring for various patient populations including kidney/ liver transplant, neurology, neurosurgery, trauma, ENT surgery, GYN surgery, urology surgery and palliative /end of life care. I also have a lot of experience in telemetry and currently teach telemetry to new nurses.
Throughout my college degrees, I always loved working with my classmates and roommate and studying together. Often times, I became the informal tutor for my peers and that was when I knew that I loved to teach. Throughout my nursing career, I precepted many new nurses. I loved seeing them grow and flourish professionally which led me to pursue nursing education. Nursing school just scratches the surface of what it is like to be a real nurse, but I can help make some of that information meaningful to help you start out on the right nursing foot!
I have my Master's of Science in Nursing and I am a Certified Clinical Nurse Leader. As a nurse educator, I primarily train newly licensed nurses who have just graduated and entered professional nursing, and I draw on my bedside experience to make it understandable. I currently coordinate and teach the Newly Licensed Nurse MedSurg Residency Program, where nurse have monthly sessions to learn about clinical topics bedside nursing skills like diabetes patient care, tracheostomy patient care, telemetry, etc.
I will work with you and your learning style to ensure that you have full understanding of the topic. I use multiple strategies to ensure understanding and often have real-life patient stories to relate concepts to. Feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a session!" less...
