"Greetings!
My name is Masaru and I offer two services here on Wyzant: Woodwind instruction and Japanese language tutoring.
Sax/Flute/Clarinet/Shakuhachi instruction:
I have been an active musician and a music educator for over 25 years providing private instructions on alto, soprano, tenor, and baritone saxophones, flute, and clarinet, as well as the Japanese shakuhachi. I teach all ages and levels.
Over the years, some of my students became award-winning soloists. Some of them fell in love with jazz music and joined jazz bands. Others took interest in music education. Some of them just enjoy playing their favorite songs at home at their leisure. Whatever the case, music became an important part of their lives, and I'm happy to have contributed to their musical journey.
My philosophy as a teacher is to help students develop their own personal connection to music, allowing them to discover the beauty and the power of music though their own musical journey - Because to me, music is the most magical and powerful healing force in this world, and it is a true joy for me to be able to share this magic with the world.
Japanese Tutoring:
To learn a language is to learn about the people and how they think and interact, about their culture, and about their history. Being a native speaker in both English and Japanese, I have the ability to provide in-depth explanations around specific expressions and idioms, including its social and cultural background and context, thus allowing a deeper understanding of the language.
Whether it's class homework, a long term goal, or preparing for your visit to Japan, I look forward to working with you!" less...
