"I am highly qualified to tutor in political science and history due to my strong academic background, teaching experience, and leadership skills. I graduated with honors from Wesleyan University with a degree in Government and wrote an honors thesis, demonstrating my ability to conduct in-depth research and critical analysis. My excellence in political science was recognized with the Davenport Prize for Excellence in Political Science. Additionally, I have taken advanced coursework in history, including Japanese, Roman, and Russian history, which has given me a broad and interdisciplinary understanding of historical and political systems.
My teaching experience includes serving as a teacher’s assistant for Introduction to Government: International Relations at the college level, where I worked with undergraduate students to reinforce key concepts, provide feedback on assignments, and lead discussions. This experience strengthened my ability to explain complex political theories clearly and engage students in meaningful academic discussions. Beyond academia, my leadership experience as a captain of my college softball team honed my organizational and mentoring skills. My dedication to history was recognized early on when I was awarded the Michael J. Woods Grant for Excellence in History in high school. I plan to begin my Master’s in Political Science this September, with the goal of becoming a professor. My strong academic foundation, experience guiding students in a higher education setting, and leadership abilities make me well-equipped to tutor students in political science and history at various levels. My tutoring approach is student-centered, focusing on breaking down complex concepts into clear, manageable parts while encouraging critical thinking through discussion-based learning. I adapt my methods to each student's needs, incorporating structured outlines, real-world examples, and interactive questioning to enhance understanding and retention." less...
