I typically tutor using Bloom's Taxonomy - I go from the known concepts to the unknown and then from low-level understanding to more complex insights with applications and analysis of answers to questions. Students coming from general chemistry typically relearn the basics with me (basic review) before I transition them to the current organic chemistry topic and then explain how this applies to learning more advanced concepts and connections to real-life applications. The best way I tutor is to ask leading questions and then watch students solve a problem so I can tell if they are confident and can be independent especially after learning a new concept during my session.
