"Hello, I'm Chad! I graduated magna cum laude with a major in Biochemistry and a minor in History. Before starting my degree, I dreaded the thought of taking the infamous course of organic chemistry based on negative rumors about how difficult the subject was for most students. However, I was fortunate enough to have a professor who was engaging and available as a resource. The class quickly became my favorite and gave me the drive to pursue a doctoral program in organic chemistry (something I did not expect)!
My cumulative teaching experiences over the years have a vast range including tutoring, teaching assistantships (both lab and classroom-based), high school education, and guest lecturing. These have given me my teaching style which is less about memorization and more about comprehension and critical thinking. I recognize each student's learning style varies and keeping that in mind strive to individualize lessons for maximal engagement. As many students fear difficult courses, I enjoy the challenge of making them digestible and interesting just as organic chemistry had been made for me.
Looking forward to setting goals with students so their educational path is not limited by a difficult course and maybe students fearing a subject may even transform it into their new passion! Please don't hesitate to reach out with questions you may have on lessons or other matters regarding my teaching style or background." less...
