"Hello! I am a licensed reading teacher and a certified Orton-Gillingham tutor with an undergraduate degree in elementary education and a Master’s degree in education. I am also a district LETRS facilitator– I teach educators about the science of reading. I have seventeen years of experience providing reading, phonics and spelling instruction to students ages 5-14 with dyslexia and other special needs. I am trained in many literacy curricula including FastBridge, Heggerty, UFLI Foundations, Fountas & Pinnell LLI, and Lexia Core5 Reading.
Utilizing the Orton-Gillingham methodology, I design differentiated reading, phonics and spelling lessons for my students based on their unique learning needs. My lessons are explicit and systematic, and I incorporate a variety of physical and virtual tools to keep students motivated and engaged. I believe that tutoring should be interactive, multisensory and fun, and I approach each session with patience and compassion.
Over the last seventeen years, I have taught hundreds of students one-on-one and in small group settings. I’ve worked as a classroom teacher and as a literacy interventionist in both public and charter schools. No two students are the same; it is essential to get to know each student to determine their strengths and challenges. I strongly believe all students can become successful, skilled readers with the right support, and I am passionate about helping all of my students reach their full potential. I’d love to help your child improve their literacy skills and build their confidence as a reader!" less...
