"Hi, I'm Andy! I’m currently a Master’s student at the University of Oxford, studying Math and Computer Science. I graduated from Bergen County Academies high school in 2021.
I have four years of experience coaching a 20-student MathCounts team (a middle school math competition), where the team achieved second place in the regional competition. Additionally, I have worked as a counselor at IdeaMath, a summer camp focused on middle school math competitions, and spent a month teaching math as a substitute teacher in a Peruvian school, instructing students from grades 1 to 12.
My expertise lies in teaching math, SAT prep, ACT prep, and LSAT prep. I have also excelled in AP courses, including AP Physics, AP Chemistry, AP Computer Science A, and AP Calculus BC, earning a score of 5 in each. I am happy to tutor in these subjects as well. Furthermore, I can guide students through the Oxford application process if they are interested in applying. My own standardized test scores include a 1580 SAT, 36 ACT, and 175 LSAT.
I strive to make learning effective and engaging. Before each lesson, I’ll ask students about their goals and current understanding of the topic, including any areas they find challenging. At the start of the session, I’ll outline a clear lesson plan so we can work collaboratively toward achieving those goals. I’ll explain concepts succinctly, address questions throughout, and guide students as we work through related problems together, helping them develop strategies and solutions. After the lesson, I may assign additional problems to reinforce understanding and provide follow-up feedback before the next session. We would go over these problems in the next session.
I respond to messages within 24 hours, and all tutoring sessions are conducted online. Please feel free to contact me if you’re interested in scheduling a lesson or have any questions. I look forward to helping you succeed!" less...
