"Hello, I'm Kathy and I have been working with youth in both professional and community settings most of my life. I was most recently working with students with special needs in a middle school setting. I am comfortable with students' with diagnoses ranging from mild to severe/profound, including students on the ASD spectrum. Assisting students with both academic and Life Skills goals is my strong suit.
My experience and education also includes certification as an Occupational Therapy assistant. In that role I professionally worked in Early intervention and I completed a clinical rotation at the Bradley School.
First of all I have a strong love of reading and working with students to encourage and foster a love of reading is important. My experience with OT also allows me to help students organize and breakdown their reading for greater comprehension and mastery.
As I stated in my Bio, working as a paraprofessional and an OTA has given me a broad spectrum of experience in academic, life skills and behavior techniques so that students can meet their greatest potential no matter their physical or developmental challenges.
I feel that history is a wide and vibrant course of study and so important to understand not only our past but inform our current and future world . It is also important to look at history from as many perspectives as possible.
Feel free to reach out to me and see where my experience and training can meet with your student's needs. I look forward to hearing from you!" less...
