"I have a Bachelor's degree from Middlebury College in Vermont, where I majored in Conservation Biology, a joint major between Environmental Studies and Biology. My areas of interest mainly focused on plant biology and earth sciences, and during my time in college I also became familiar and proficient with several Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques. During my time at Middlebury I was a teaching assistant in the biology department, and worked in the college's sustainability office and at the organic farm.
As a teaching assistant, I helped lead labs for ecology and evolution courses, as well as hosted tutoring sessions and assisted students outside of class with understanding content and help with assignments and projects. In my current work for Sea Education Association, I am a marine technician and assistant scientist. I work with high school and college students in our sail training and research vessel's onboard lab, leading scientific deployments to collect water and zoological samples, and leading students through the scientific process for their oceanography and marine biology projects. I have also spent time in my role's in Middlebury's sustainability office designing curriculum for environmental science lessons for elementary and middle school students ion local schools and summer camps.
I'm passionate about helping students that are excited about science hone their interests, and would be particularly interested in tutoring high school students in ocean and earth science subjects, where I would bring relevant field experience to the lessons. I would also feel very excited about tutoring elementary-aged children in reading and science, and help get them excited about learning!" less...
