"Hi! My name is Amber, I and am currently a first-year pre-med student at the University of Virginia, majoring in Behavioral Neuroscience. I graduated from high school less than a year ago with an Advanced Studies Diploma, Summa Cum Laude honors, and the Governor of Virginia's Seal of Academic Excellence. During my senior year, I took AP Psychology, earning an A in the course and scoring a 5 on the AP exam. My teacher’s enthusiasm for the subject inspired me to pursue a degree connected to psychology, and I hope to pass on that same passion to my students.

My teaching experience began informally when I supported classmates who needed additional help with AP Psychology concepts. I offered assistance during class and after school, working one-on-one to explain challenging topics and share effective study strategies. Through these experiences, I discovered how much I enjoy breaking down complex material and making it accessible to others. Since I recently completed the course myself, I have a fresh perspective on the material and a clear understanding of what students need to succeed.

As a tutor, I prioritize a personalized and engaging approach. I encourage students to share their specific needs or areas of difficulty in advance so I can create lesson plans tailored to their goals. My lessons aim to go beyond rote memorization by making the content relatable and fun. Whether we’re diving into the stages of cognitive development or discussing how classical conditioning applies to everyday life, I strive to create a learning environment where students feel motivated and curious.
