"Hi, I'm Cadence, a double major in history and public policy at the College of William & Mary! In June 2024, I earned my advanced studies diploma from Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, where I spent a year and a half as a writing tutor. As an avid writer with several short stories published, I took up writing tutoring to help others feel as comfortable as I do expressing themselves verbally. I worked one-on-one with high school students at various stages in the writing process—editing, revising, brainstorming—with analytical essays, scientific papers, college essays, and creative writing. Regardless of where a student was in the writing process, I prioritized maintaining each student's writing voice and style by remaining curious about their ideas and how they expressed them best.

While I'm very passionate about it, I can understand why many students find history dry or uninteresting. This is why I use my ability to provide writing feedback as a peer reviewer for my school's historical research journal, the James Blair Historical Review. I do my best to ensure that history—whether someone is writing about it or learning about it—is conveyed in an interesting and easy-to-digest manner.
