"I absolutely love both teaching and the subject of history. I received my Master's in Education in 2014, and have been teaching ever since. I spent two years teaching middle school (6-8th grade) down in Virginia, but I now teach 10-12th grade at an IB school. I used to tutor an 8th grader back in Virginia, helping her stay up to date with her studies while she was not able to attend school. History can definitely be a boring subject, but it's all about how you present the information -- everyone loves a good story, and history is just that, a series of compelling stories!
During my career as a teacher, I have taught a variety of subjects. I have taught early U.S. history, from the colonization of North America to present day events, as well as a plethora of World History subjects. I now teach the International Baccalaureate curriculum, so I have taught the following: rise of Authoritarian Rulers and States (Hitler & Nazi Germany, Stalin & USSR, Castro & Cuba), the Cold War (origins, escalation, detente, collapse), and Rwandan Genocide. I have also taught Criminal Justice and Geography as electives.
In addition to content, I can help with writing skills (how to organize an essay, using evidence, analyzing instead of narrating), and how to analyze primary sources. I'm very flexible with my ability, so please reach out to me if you are interested in learning more about history!" less...
