"I am a geographical information science graduate and environmental management professional. I'm originally from Uganda, East Africa but now live with my wife in the United States. After completing my undergraduate, I worked in environmental compliance consulting for about 13 years, then pursued a Masters in Geographical Information Science that I completed in 2022. Though I was formally trained as an environmental manager, my passion for sharing knowledge often landed me into mentoring and instructor roles first with my peers at work and then with my fellow students at graduate school. My passion for learning would later inspire me to enroll for a doctoral degree program (also in Geographical Information Science) that I am still pursuing.

Spending time in academia has taught me much about education and has offered a rewarding cultural experience that I hope I can share with my students. My philosophy about teaching is that it is a process of sharing and discovery rather than lecturing, and that it should be mutually empowering for both student and tutor. As such I seek to learn from my students as much as they learn from me. I also believe that the purpose of education is not to score straight A’s but to gain skills and insights that help us better understand our world and solve problems.
