"Hi, I'm Sam! I've been tutoring for over 10 years, working with students ranging from 4th grade through undergraduate level in math, science, and the humanities. Students look for tutoring for a wide variety for reasons - some are struggling with their classes or feel unprepared, while others want to get ahead and feel ready for more advanced material. Regardless, as a tutor, my aim is always to support you in developing your own understand of the material, and to leave you with a strong framework so that you can approach your future studies as a successful and independent learner.
I specialize in developing personalized curricula to help students make long term progress. If you feel that you have hated mathematics for as long as you remember, and are finally at the point of a breaking point, whether that be in classes or just trying to get through the SAT, I can work with you to feel comfortable with mathematics and get the results you need. On the other hand, if you are looking for a boost over the summer to prepare for next years courses or get ahead, I can connect with you new and interesting topics while working to get you to the next level. With all students, I use a personalized approach and a range of examples and explanations to make sure that you leave feeling secure in your understanding.
I hold a B.A. in Mathematics from Pomona College, and am currently pursuing a Masters in Mathematics at City College of New York, where I have received the Rich Mathematics Scholarship and Rich Mathematics Internship. When I am not doing my own math research, I enjoy helping students find a sense of joy and curiosity in previously intimidating subjects, whether that is writing, or dance, or mathematics.
