"Hi, I’m Henry! I am in my 3rd year at Yale University as an undergraduate student pursuing simultaneously a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in Classics. I know Latin and Ancient Greek. I have a particular interest in studying Vergil, Caesar, Pliny the Younger, and Euripides. I tutor through Yale’s Center for Language Tutoring in Latin and Ancient Greek; I have lots of experience explaining grammatical functions, and I have some great tips for handling what at first appears to be overwhelming amounts of vocabulary! My research focuses on the reception of Ancient Medical texts.
Given my research background, I am very experienced in writing academic papers. I have tutored many students to help them with formatting research papers, tightening up their prose, and teaching students how to perform a close reading of a text for their English class. In addition to tutoring students 1:1 to help with writing, I also have extensive experience teaching Math. I have taught Math in the classroom, particularly 8th-grade Math. I have extensive experience teaching students the intuition behind working with fractions and solving algebraic equations. I have also tutored online for the past 3 years through Teach For America’s Ignite Fellowship, where I taught 8th-grade Math.

I remember how I used to think every day when I went to school, “If only math and writing did not exist, School would be so fun!” The fact that tutoring was what sparked my interest in both of these subjects is the same reason I love tutoring now. Not only do I love facilitating success among my students, but I also hope that I can spark the same love for writing and math that was sparked within me!" less...
