"My name is Chuck. I have a B.S. in computer science and a minor in math from North Carolina State University. I'm a former college instructor, I've worked in software for 15 years, but I've also been keeping my math skills sharp in various ways. I've also been a contestant on Jeopardy!
Back when I was a college student, I planned and delivered lessons in front of a class, held office hours, and worked with students one-on-one for a programming class. When I was in high school, I tutored my peers in algebra, algebra II, pre-calculus, and calculus. I enjoyed both settings - I liked the classroom because I got to play with technology, and I actually like public speaking and making PowerPoint presentations; I liked working one-on-one with students during my office hours because I got to know them better and I was able to go into more details than I ever could in a 30-minute lecture in front of a class.
In high school, I also tutored my peers one-on-one in algebra, algebra II, pre-calculus, and calculus for service hours. Then, now, and always, I've found math to be interesting and fun, and I hope to bring that to you as well!
Three times, I scored an 800 on the math section on the SAT. I also scored an 800 on the SAT II in math and another 800 in physics. From middle school until late in college, I was active in math competitions, representing the state of North Carolina in national-level competitions in Mathcounts and the American Regions Math League. More recently, I took the Praxis II exam as part of an effort to go back to school to get a teaching certificate, and scored a 195 out of 200, so I certainly know my material.
On top of that, I love math, and I hope that I can impart that upon you. Barring that, I hope I can at least make it a bit easier for you.
If you want someone who is good at math, energetic, and patient, then I'd love to work with you! Shoot me a message and let's get started!" less...
