My journey to learning Japanese was accidental, but one I'm so grateful for having. Some of the best, and most rewarding experiences can come unexpectedly. I chose to take a college Japanese class rather than repeat a year of French, and the rest is history. I ended up studying abroad in Osaka, and loved every minute of it. It was hands-down the best experience of my life!
I have been back to Japan twice, both times serving as tour guide/translator for my traveling companions. In between my trips to Japan, I worked at the University of Pennsylvania, and had the pleasure of being a language practice partner for two different Japanese exchange students. I have also kept in touch with my host family from my college study abroad home stay.
I am most adept at speaking, listening, and grammar (conversational is my thing!). I am also able to read and write kanji and have some tricks up my sleeve on how to remember them. I have several favorite textbooks that I use to guide my lessons, but am happy to follow one of your choosing as well. My goal is to keep lessons interesting, so I'll introduce different activities throughout our lessons to aid in comprehension and retention." less...
