"Hi! My name is Amy and I've been in the tutoring field for as long as I can remember.
My first experiences with tutoring were actually as a student myself, prepping for major exams to get into schools. Growing up in an Asian American household, it was extremely important to do well in school and going to prep was a part of that process. I then got my first job at the age of 15 in a private prep school as a Teacher's Assistant helping kids prepare for specialized examinations. From there, I continued tutoring part time while taking various AP exams and preparing for the ACT as well.
With my various job experiences, I've tutored entire classes of students and helped with their homework but also have experiences tutoring 1 on 1 so the students really get my attention. This way, I can also understand their individual strengths and weaknesses to help them achieve better grades, understand the subject more while keeping things light and easy going. I thoroughly enjoyed tutoring because I get to know my students and make it fun. I even still keep in touch with some of my very first students until this day! I've seen them go through high school, college, and now graduating college as well.
I attended Brooklyn Technical High School after successfully passing the rank on the SHSAT. I scored a 32 on my ACTs and graduated with an unweighted average of 94 my senior year of high school. I was accepted to Boston University, NYU, Binghamton University, Stony Brook University Honors College, St. John’s University and Northeastern University where I attended. I didn’t apply to any Ivy Leagues.
I graduated with a degree in Finance and currently work with many financial professionals within the industry in a client facing market data consulting role.
I know you just want the answers sometimes and I can definitely help you get them but I would also like to help you really KNOW and LEARN rather than memorize! Feel free to contact me and I'd be more than happy to help you the best I can!" less...
