My name is Alexander, and I am a Lynchburg College graduate with a bachelor's of science in Chemistry and a minor in Communications with social influence. I was an official tutor for Lynchburg College for two years through their PASS Program as the General Chemistry PASS Leader. As a PASS leader, I conducted both office hours and study sessions. For office hours, I would have one on one sittings with students where I would focus on whatever questions they may have had at their own pace. Sessions, on the other hand, involved me leading larger group meetings where I helped multiple students at once and used their collective questions to explain concepts that helped them all gain a better understanding of the subject.
When I tutor, I focus primarily on teaching the material based on how the student learns and what helps them best understand the material. No one person learns completely the same as another, so I always try to find different ways to approach a concept in order to create a solid base of understanding, be it through metaphors and memory devices or drawing out pictures to better visualize what the material is about. Once the student has a firm grasp of the material, I then like to focus on doing practice problems so they begin to apply their knowledge. My goal is to get students to a point where they can run through problems with little or no assistance from me. While no one can be a master in every subject, that does not prevent them from doing the best they can in any subject.

I will charge the student for half of the scheduled time at the relevant rate unless I am provided a reason as to why they missed the session within 12 hours, unless during high volume times, then the student will be charged immediately." less...
