"Got glint? Glint is passion. It is the spark that sets things in motion. But how do you keep the fire going? As an educator with a masters from Brown University, a producing artist, a mentor by day and creator by night, I understand that success must be fueled by desire.
For the last four years I have focused on what sparks my students to lean forward. In New York, I dedicated time to volunteering with Good Shepherd Services to serve as a Curriculum Coordinator for youth programs. Outside the nonprofit sector, I've tutored students with test preparation at centers in all five boroughs to help review material for their ISEE/SHSAT, SAT/ACT & AP exams. In 2014, I was hired by the Ivy Team to mentor students through the application process and have since helped hundreds of students gain acceptance into the college of their dreams.
I understand the frustration of juggling academic challenges with individual pursuits. As an adolescent, I was a competitive figure skater. I found it difficult to maintain a good GPA while training and traveling to competitions over weekends. So my parents hired a teaching artist to help me in the off season. She would sing me the multiplication tables and grammar rules from "School House Rock" songs. Those funky jingles stuck with me and continue to influence the foundation of my approach: ignite the glint that makes learning and academic planning exciting yet manageable.
My experience has taught me that play is the thing. I always enjoy demystifying the enigma of concepts-like quadratic formula or subject/verb agreement-with fun rhymes or tricks that keep my students and their brains engaged. The more fun they have, the more likely they’ll be to take agency over their own education." less...
