"Hi! My name is Karl, and I have a Ph.D. in biochemistry with an emphasis on enzyme and metabolic pathway evolution. Before starting my PhD, I graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in biochemistry with honors, a minor in biotechnology, and a final GPA of 3.898. As an undergraduate, I was a teaching assistant for three semesters for an introductory course in biochemistry - during this time, I graded exams and helped teach problem sessions. This teaching experience helped me realize how uniquely everyone thinks, and how important it is to tailor your teaching style to each individual. As such, I prefer long-term tutoring situations (more than just one test prep session), and offer a free consultation meeting to make sure we are on the same page and to give me time to prepare any materials or brush up on any concepts for our first full session.
I have a total of ten and a half years of tutoring experience spanning age ranges from 7 to 25 years old and subjects from basic math and reading all the way to organic chemistry and biochemistry. One year of this time was spent tutoring at an after-school program for primary school students. It was this experience that really showed me how much I enjoyed teaching and pushed me to become a teaching assistant as an undergraduate as well as tutor a student in chemistry II and organic chemistry. Although I enjoy teaching all age ranges, I have begun to specialize tutoring the subject matter closest to me, and now prefer working with students 16+ in the subjects of chemistry, biology, and biochemistry.
I always aim to help others succeed and hopefully enjoy themselves along the way as I have. I have good internet connection, experience taking classes over Zoom, and can also meet in person. Please contact me if you have any questions or would like to schedule a lesson!" less...
