"I am a retired Texas Chemistry Teacher. I taught Chemistry for 25 years and taught Algebra and Geometry during Summer school. For the last 11 years of my career, I was a Digital Learning Specialist. I was teaching teachers how to use technology to teach their classes. I have a B.S. in Secondary Education with concentrations in Chemistry and Mathematics from Texas A&M at Kingsville, an M.S. in Curriculum & Instruction with a minor in Instructional Technology from Texas A&M International University, and an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University at Commerce. I hold lifetime teaching certificates in the State of Texas for Chemistry, Mathematics (Grades 6-12), and Master Technology Teacher. I passed the TECAT certification exam in 1986 when the State of Texas required all certified teachers to recertify as Texas was switching to a new certification process.

My philosophy of tutoring is the same as my philosophy of teaching. I explain the topic we are covering as descriptively as possible using examples. My most important philosophy is “THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A STUPID QUESTION.” If the student does not understand it does not matter whose fault it is that they don’t understand. They need it explained to them again. Reteaching is an absolute necessity in the process of learning. I always encourage my students to ask questions of me and their teachers. I explain the best way to ask questions by being specific about what they do not understand to help the teacher correct their misunderstandings.
