"Hi, I'm Andrea, a part-time tutor specializing in K-8 reading, writing, and vocabulary, as well as A1-B2 level French and Spanish. I am a trilingual communications professional with over ten years of experience in international relations, writing, and tutoring. I come from a family of educators- my parents are teachers and my fiancé is a professor at Georgetown. Although I tutor all ages and professions, my favorite classes to teach are those geared toward improving reading and writing skills and hopefully passing along a love for books.

I am a graduate of West Virginia University and University College Dublin, one of the best research programs in the world, where I graduated with honors. I now work for the United Nations as a national communications officer.

I have extensive experience teaching students of all ages, focusing primarily on K-8 students for reading, writing, and vocabulary, and students of all ages for A1-B2 French and Spanish. I tailor my programs to meet each student's goals and needs. Most importantly, I make all tutoring sessions as fun and engaging as possible!

Many students struggle with reading comprehension and answering questions based on passages. I use a step-by-step method to help students identify and understand key information, improving their comprehension and analytical skills

I employ various strategies, including educational apps and websites, to help students internalize vocabulary, ensuring they can recall and use words confidently during tests, or incorporate their meaning when reading advanced texts.

I guide students through the writing process, from brainstorming to proofreading, providing support as needed.

You are the captain of your ship, with your own goals and aspirations. Whether you need help passing a test, completing homework, or building confidence in a particular subject, I'm here to support you. I love teaching students of all backgrounds, and I am committed to helping you achieve your goals." less...
