"Hi! I'm Sharleen. I completed my Biology Bachelor's of Science Degree magna cum laude in 2012, and am in the process of completing a PhD degree in biology. I have closely instructed over 50 undergraduate students at multiple universities, elementary-aged children, as well as two kids of my own, within the last 15 years. During college, I tutored biology, organic chemistry, and American sign language for the Learning Center; I was also a Teacher's Assistant for biology and biochemistry labs. I worked in biological research after college, with experiences ranging from zebrafish development to fruit fly evolution. During my time, I mentored and taught over 25 undergraduate students.

After 8 years of working in research, I started pursuing a PhD program in Biology where I currently very closely mentor 1 undergraduate, and have been a Teacher's Assistant for large Cell Biology and Biochemistry classes. I love doing science outreach in my community, and have been a part of local groups volunteering in elementary schools for 4 years. Part of my love of science shows up in my art; I love to translate my science research into pieces of art. This skill also helps me understand parts of biology, and convey it to others. Besides instructing biology, I have also received tutoring in the past for various subjects, so I understand first-hand how it feels to be on the other side of the table, so to speak. Through all of these experiences, I have a vast range of practical and academic knowledge and skills that I'm looking forward to using to help others.
